Attractive Magic Flute
Some here who are not already tuned in to today's Siegfried from Bayreuth, starring the striking Stephen Gould (his Forging Scene turned out very well), might be intrigued by a Zauberfloete coming up right now on ESPACE MUSIQUES, featuring Dorothea Röschmann (Pamina), Christoph Strehl (Tamino), Erika Miklosa (La Reine de la nuit), René Pape (Sarastro), Hanno Müller-Brachmann (Papageno), Julia Kleiter (Papagena), Georg Zeppenfeld (le Héraut), Kurt Azesberger (Monostatos), and the Chœur Arnold Schœnberg and the Orchestre de chambre Mahler under the direction of Claudio Abbado.
Happy listening.

Yes, I chose the Zauberflote. Roschmann's Countess yesterday on Bartok Radio from Salzburg was rather unusual. VERY intense emotionally, actually crying in some spots, good vocalism for the most part, though a tad more vibrato at times than I normally care for. She certainly stretches the envelope however. A risk-taker and creative performer.
Pape, of course, is rarely less than excellent. Should be good.
Cheers,
Charles
