In the face of Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine and the burgeoning humanitarian crisis, please consider supporting one or more of these orgranizations:
Razom For Ukraine - an umbrella organization that partners with other aid organizations to co-ordinate relief efforts
USA for UNHCFR [UN High Commission for Refugees] - A portal for donations from the USA, to help displaced families
UNICEFUSA - helping children caught up in the humanitarian crisis
CARE International - has established a Ukrainen Crisis Fund to to reach 4 million with immediate aid and recovery, food, water, hygiene kits, psychosocial support, and cash assistance — prioritizing women and girls, families, and the elderly.
International Red Cross - How they are helping in Ukraine
Doctors Without Borders (Medecins Sans Frontieres) - MSF has a longstanding presence in Ukraine, including in regions of eastern Ukraine that have been affected by armed conflict since 2014. We have now had to halt normal activities in Ukraine and mobilize to launch emergency operations. We have teams in Ukraine, Poland, Moldova, Hungary, Slovakia, Russia, and Belarus. MSF is an independent and impartial organization committed to providing medical humanitarian assistance to people affected by the war no matter who they are or where they are.
International Medical Corps - International Medical Corps' teams inside Ukraine and in the surrounding region are responding to the conflict by expanding access to medical and mental health services for those living in affected communities, and working to help refugees.
World Central Kitchen - This organization is famous for stting up kitchens to feed victims of natural disastes, and now, war. Chef André has set up kitchen sites at all Poland border entry points to feed Ukrainian refugees
Direct help to Ukrainian Military - instructions provided by the Ukrainian MIssion to the UN in New York City: via transfer of funds into the United Bank of Ukraine (UBK) (Not tax-deductible)
Another non-traditional way to give direct help to Ukranians still inside Ukraine - Read this article from CNN about making and paying for an AirBNB reservation at a Ukrainian site. Although you can't currently use your resevation, the host for you AirBNB will appreciate the needed cash and many have been using their sites to help Ukrainians in need of housing and food. Lviv, a city in western Ukraine, which had a pre-war population of 700,000, has seen hundreds of thousands of people fleeing from East and Central Ukraine coming to Lviv, some passing on to other countries to the West, with at least 200,000 currently still there. So maybe pick an AirBNB in or near Lviv or other western Ukrainian cities. (Note that most of the other charities on this list seem to be targeting their help to Ukrainians who have already left Ukraine.) Here is AirBNB's link to Ukraine aid.
